Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this lesson's material, students will be able to:

  • Analyze and evaluate oral and/or written expression by listening and reading critically for elements that reflect an awareness of situation, audience, purpose, and diverse points of view.
  • Distill a primary purpose into a single, compelling statement and order and develop major points in a reasonable and convincing manner based on that purpose.
  • Develop appropriate rhetorical patterns (i.e. narration, example, process, comparison/contrast, classification, cause/effect, definition, argumentation) and other special functions (i.e., analysis or research), while demonstrating writing and/or speaking skills from process to product.
  • Understand that the writing and/or speaking processes include procedures such as planning, organizing, composing, revising, and editing.
  • Make written and/or oral presentations employing correct diction, syntax, usage, grammar, and mechanics utilizing the vocabulary and concepts of learning found within the lesson.
  • Manage and coordinate basic information gathered from multiple sources for the purposes of problem solving, decision-making and presentation.
  • Recognize the use of evidence, analysis, and persuasive strategies, including basic distinctions among opinions, facts, and inferences within a formal presentation.

Lesson 6 Assignment

Create a presentation (may use prezi, powerpoint, Animoto, Empressr, Kizoa or platforms found HERE

This presentation must include audio and video aspects and be easy to upload and transfer to me in a manageable format.

The presentation MUST be a researched, factual, convincing and positive presentation of a religion which is foreign to you- presenting background, history, major belief constructs and religious requirements of the adherents. Consider this a commercial in which you are attempting to sell me, your audience, on the legitimacy and power of the faith system you choose. This presentation should be no more than 10 minutes, but must highlight specific and fundamental constructs of the chosen faith.
