Interpersonal Communication (ELO Effective Communication) - Casual Interview

Instructions

I'm going to use this assignment as an early introduction to the use of WebEx in this class. WebEx is a videoconferencing software that you need to sign up for to complete assignments in this class.

Following the instructions in the Clinic, set up your WebEx account and then post in the Casual Interview discussion an offer to "meet" someone online. You (the Counselor) will set up an appointment and email your peer (the Client) an invitation through the WebEx interface to join you at a specific time through WebEx. The Counselor will record the meeting.

When you set up the meeting you will NAME the meeting in a specific way. If, for example, I was going to be the Counslor for Becky Brown, the title of my meeting (and ultimately the title of video sent to me) would be:

Mark Kavanaugh - Counselor with Becky Brown - Client

I want your title to be EXACLTY in this format!

You will be asked to use a similar format when you are sending me your graded Practice Sessions later in the semester so you need to learn how to do this now. The naming of the session will happen when you set up the meeting.

During the session the Counselor has the task of engaging their Clinet in a casual conversatoin getting to know them. The conversation will last at least 5 minutes. The Counselor will then send me a link to this video and I will view it and evaluate the sender's interpersonal skills using the rubric below.

You must send the link to my KVCC email only...do not send it to me in Bb email...use the WebEx software to send the link, you should not have to copy/paste a link anywhere...there is an interface to send it to me.

Your Client CANNOT then turn around and be your COUNSELOR...you need to find someone else to interview! Each video is only going to be regarding ONE Counselor and ONE client.

Take each of these video assignments seriously. If you are having technical trouble I do not want a video of it...redo the assignment if you have to in order to send me a finished product. You must MASTER this software in order to pass this class, so you need to beyond the challenges of the technology.

Remember, each video submission to me must be unique and will count as ONE person's submission...you can't simply take turns being the one who is interviewing. You cannot be interviewed by the same person who you interview...you have to meet at least two people.
