  1. Select a topic that meets the assignment description. For this class, choose one topic from the thirteen categories for disability under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  2. Find five (5) resources (two peer-reviewed articles and one book) to gather information from prior to writing. A peer-reviewed article is written by experts and is reviewed by several other experts in the field before the article is published in the journal in order to ensure the article's quality.
  3. Write a Thesis Statement about your paper. A thesis statement usually appears at the end of the introductory paragraph of a paper, and it offers a concise summary of the main point or claim of the essay, research paper, etc. A thesis statement is usually one sentence that appears at the beginning though it may occur as more than once.
  4. Using the information gathered from the peer-reviewed sources, compile information about the specific chosen topic. Confirm there is information about diagnosis, signs and symptoms, prognosis, treatment, and any other information required on the grading rubric.
  5. Create a concluding paragraph to recap information to support the Thesis Statement found in the introductory paragraph.
  6. Confirm you have cited all work throughout the paper and have a Work Cited Page
  7. Create a Title Page.
  8. Evaluate your work – are you proud of this paper? Is it your best work?
  9. Turn your paper in on time.
  10. Celebrate when you are finished.
