Lesson 11: Prompting Attention Studio audiences are provided prompts for applause much like you see in this cartoon. This is a Prompter used in video recording studios...newscasters use this all the time...they can look right at the camera which can "see through" the mirror on which the text from the inverted tablet! That is why those folks sounds so smooth! Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this lesson's material, students will be able to:
Teaching Job Tool Information I'm going to give you some special notes here about the role of Job Tools in providing guidance to individuals to complete a task because it is your assignment to create one! Job Tools are instructions, pictures, or guides used to teach a particular skill. We see them everywhere. They serve as Antecedents and provide guidance as to what is going to be acceptable behavior.
You can create job tools for nearly any task you wish...you can take pictures and place them in the document and the print instructions next to them. Job Tools are placed near the locations in which they are going to be used and serve as instructions for the completion of complex (or simple) tasks. The goal of having a Job Tool is to increase the likelihood that the task will be completed the same way each time. Sometimes this is very important...like when you vote! So, you will be tasked in this lesson to come up with a Job Tool for a task. It can be as simple as "Brushing Teeth" to as complex as "Looking up an Article in an Online Database" If you look at the Start Here documents in this course and view the "tutorial" on Blackboard...those are examples of Job Tools. Assessment Lesson 11 Discussion For this discussion I want each of you to post your idea as to what you are going to do to complete the assignment listed in this Lesson plan. Describe the skill you are going to teach and characteristics of the individual you are going to create this tool for. Your description of the person should include justifications for your chosen design (see the instructions for the Lesson 11 Assignment) Lesson 11 Assignment In this assignment I want you to create a "Job Tool" that shows how to complete a task for a particular individual. When you create a job tool you have to keep in mind the developmental level of the individual and adjust the job tool so that the person can use it independently.
