2015

September 4 - Fall Semester Content Preparation is Complete

September 8 - KVCC Fall Semester Begins

  • Goals for Fall 2015
    • Test app for Blackbaord
          • 9/20/15 - We are still waiting to hear from Blackboard as to our license for this feature.
    • Create a format for Faculty to submit thier "iPad Integration Plan" with their syllabus for face-to-face classes.
          • In the 9/11/15 event it was decided that we would create an "MHT Faculty Development" course in iTunes U to serve this purpose.
          • Apps and application ideas will be sent to Mark Kavanaugh and reported in the MHT Faculty Development iTunes U course.
    • Development of an "iPad Incident Report" form that Fall 2015 Faculty will use to report on iPad integration efforts, successes, and failures.
          • In the 9/11/15 event it was decided that we would create an "MHT Faculty Development" course in iTunes U to serve this purpose.
          • Apps and application ideas will be sent to Mark Kavanaugh and reported in the MHT Faculty Development iTunes U course.
    • Each MHT Course (by the end of the Fall 2015 semester)
      • Standard Assignments (MHRT/C Portfolio and Special Assignments) that utilize iPad tools and apps.
          • MHRT/C Portfolio assignments are delayed until we know more about the new outcomes from the State.
      • Assessment tools to measure outcomes and technology engagement and outcomes.
      • Alignment with apps and tutorials in iTunes U

September 8 - iPad Funding Options Document

  • Confirm use of iPads as the mobile device.
  • Outline options:
    • Lease with Grant Seed
    • Lease with KVCC - Day 1 Fund 1
    • Lease with KVCC - Day 1 Fund 1 - Deferred Payment to Apple
    • Student Pay - May involve Financial Aid
        • 9/20/15 - Following conversations with Follett (bookstore) it seems that students will be able to pre-order their iPads and have them delivered to the KVCC Bookstore using their pending financial aid.
        • We will explore 1) do we simply want to have students purchase the iPads outright as a requirement, and 2) what do we need (or want) to do with the pending grants that we are applying for?
          • Ideas for Grant funds (should they be awarded)
            • Purchase a set of in-class iPads as "back-up" in case someone forgot their iPad (10)
            • Purchase a set of iPads that will be "rented" by students who are not matriculated into the Mental Health program but taking MHT classes.
            • Explore options for off-campus, dual-enrollment provision of iPads
            • Purchase support infrastructure such as microphones, tripods, lenses, cases, etc.

September 11 - Initial Faculty Orientation

  • Introduction of Faculty Expectations for iPad Integration - By Spring 2016:
    • ALL classes have standard assignments that integrate iPad tools.
    • At least TWO iPad integration activities in each face-to-face class.
    • At leaset FIVE iPad integration activities for existing Lesson Plans in an online class.
    • Exploration of apps and activities for both face-to-face and online classes.
  • Ensure all Faculty have an iPad
  • Ensure all Faculty have an iTunes Account
  • Ensure all Faculty have access to iTunes U
  • All Faculty are issued a $25 iTunes gift card to explore apps.
        • Each Faculty that attended the September 11 event were given a $25 iTunes gift card.
  • Support structure is explained.

October 5 - Student Survey

  • October 6 - Survey was sent to everyone in the KVCC community hoping to capure all students who are in the Mental Health program and those who may be considering taking MHT classes.
  • Completed Draft of the iPad Survey for the October 16 and 19 events. Sent to Wendy St. Pierre and Stephen Larochelle for review.

October 6 - "Framwork for Success" Event (12 noon - 5 pm) RESCHEDULED

October 16 and October 19- Student Orientation and Focus Group

  • Two meetings will be held to introduce the iPad Initiative, update students on expectations, and field questions.
  • Friday October 16 - 12 PM - 2 PM - Averill Hall Rm 227
  • Monday October 19 - 6 PM - 8 PM - Agricultural Building - Lecture Hall

October 22 - Leadership and Learning Event

  • Apple is hosting a conference for higher education leadership to learn about implementing Apple technologies.
  • KVCC will be sending representatives to this meeting, including:
    • Mark Kavanaugh
    • Stephen Larochelle
    • Jon Connolly
    • Kevin Casey

November (within first two weeks)

  • Select a day for Ian Camera to work with Faculty
  • Regroup identified Faculty to report out on their findings.
  • Report on the Special Assignment modifications.

November 20 and November 23- Student Orientation and Focus Group

  • Two meetings will be held to introduce the iPad Initiative, update students on expectations, and field questions.

  • 10 AM to 2 PM Agenda
  • 10:00 AM - Meet in Chapel for introduction to the Program and Agenda
  • 10:30 AM - Un-boxing in the Gym

    • Set up iPad, iTunes Account, iTunes U
    • Instagram - Start taking Pictures!
    • "To Do List" earns the student the meal pass and iTunes gift card.
